宇宙を大宇宙というのに対し、人体（人間）を小宇宙とよびます。
私は「医用遺伝子工学」「分子生物生体情報科学」が本来の専門なので、今回はミクロな世界の不思議をご紹介します♪

My original major is "medical genetic engineering" and "molecular biology bioinformatics", so this time I will introduce the wonders of the micro world:)


「不老不死」
年をとらずに生き続けることは人類の夢の一つでしょうか？
そんなこと不可能に決まっていると決めつけるのは早いかもしれません。
実は、不老に関しては身近なところにその鍵が存在するのです。
それは・・・、


「がん」です。
皮肉なことに、死亡原因トップである「がん」が「不老不死」の鍵なのです。
がん細胞は年を取りません。つまり、分裂を繰り返し続けるのです。
普通は、テロメアという染色体部分が細胞の分裂回数を制限しているため、老化がおこりますが、がん細胞はそれが正しく機能しなくなります。

がんを克服し、テロメアをコントロールできるようになったとき、我々は老化を克服するかもしれませんね。
小宇宙に関しても、まだまだ分からないことがたくさんあります！！

"Immortality"
Is it one of human dreams to stay alive without getting old?
It may be early to conclude that such a thing is impossible.
In fact, the key to immortality exists in our immediate surroundings.

"Ｃancer".
Ironically, "cancer", the leading cause of death, is the key to "immortality."
Cancer cells do not grow old. In other words, it keeps dividing.
Normally, telomeres, a part of the chromosome that limits the number of cell divisions, causes aging, but cancer cells don't function properly.

We may overcome aging when we can overcome cancer and control telomeres.
There are still many things we don't understand about the microcosm! !!
By all means, I'd like you to investigate various things with interest :)
